The concept of unconscious mental processes was central in the early description of personality organization. However, Freud introduced three basic structures into the anatomy of personality. The psychic structural model is based on psychic functioning. The role of regulators in this model is assigned to three instances of the psyche: the Ego (Self), the Super-Ego (Ideal Self), and the Id (It).
As part of the course, we will provide a more detailed description of these instances.
